5 minute figure drawings

It's been a long while since I've drawn figure drawing. But since it was this weekly challenge to draw six nudes in 5 minutes each from this website http://lovecastle.org/draw/, I thought it was a good excuse to try again.

I find I have les trouble with female nudes then with male. The shapes of females are more fluid and I can draw them in almost one stroke. But even the male nudes were fun to do and I'm going to practice more ^^

I made this for a friend and colleague who is very sick. Everyone at work was asked to make a bookmark for her and I hope all the thoughts that went into all those bookmarks, including this one, will help her some.

Sketch Fest

I entered the Sketch Fest today ^^ It's one weekend a month when people all over the world enter "prompts" and/or sketch other people's prompts. The sketches can not take more than an hour.

This was my first try and since I found out a bit late and had to work I only had three hours to find prompts, sketch, scan and post, but I managed to finish three anyway! Here they are:

Twisted Smirk - weird style, I might try more with this kind of thing, I want to draw less cute, but it takes some getting used to this...

Zebra Looks - I caved in and went back to cutesy right away... I'm such a wuss.

Toys in the attic - The last one this Sketch Fest. I was looking for a prompt in which I could use characters from Tom's Tesuji, a comic I'm working on. The comic is still in planning fase. But four of the characters that are in it are in this attic too, together with the game that will have a big role in the story. 

Oh, and a mouse, there's a mouse too. He might be in the comic, or not...

Worked out Iris sketches

A friend of mine makes a lot of sketches of poses. It's good practice and I should do it more often too. But some of the sketches in her sketchbook were just begging me to work them out. So here are two.

They're still not very worked out though. I should ink the top one maybe, but first I need to do some pose sketches of my own ^^

Hawk studies

I got inspired to engrave some kind of image in the casing of my pc. (= I saw someone engraving a computer casing and he offered me the use of his equipment) So I started making sketches. I'll post a few of them here and also the eventual engraving ^^

Mulan

To practice I decided to draw from Mulan. The style that is used is very basic with very few lines. it looks easy and simple. But I found that because there are so few lines it's very important that they are just right! It took me some getting used to. Also, I wanted to draw the men, not the pretty young faces. Those I can draw easily in my own style, but I wanted to practice something I can't draw well.

Surviving - inked

Okay, I'm not so sure about how I inked her. I made a lot of mistakes and I tried to vary in line thickness, but somehow it didn't turn out the way I wanted. Of course, this is the first mayor project that I inked, so it would be weird if it all went perfect. I now just hope the water colour will make me feel better about this picture.
